Math Conference

As Einstein says, time is relative proportional to whatever a person is doing…

Meaning, if I am doing something that I enjoy then time goes by super fast; the other hand, if I am doing something that I dislike then, it seems that the clock does not move.

This weekend was kind a weird weekend; I mean, as always wanted to accomplish a lot but have not enough time.  So, here are the good and bad:

Good:

1.       I did my taxes! Yes, finally got all done, taxes for routes, for j&r, and personal funds! Ufff!!!   Thanks God, the guy who does my taxes (and has been doing them for the past 5 years) is pretty familiar with all my stuff…

2.       Work on my abstract algebra and complex numbers homework. It seems that it is not that much homework to do but it was pretty convoluted. One of my neighbors at loft is a lecturer at UC and providentially for me he is a mathematician. He had offered to help, but it is not like I want to be bugging him with every problem…

3.       I finished my laundry… which I really needed to do.

Bad:

1.       I went to movies, and saw lead heads. The movie was pretty bad, at least I didn’t like it… it think, I was kind a redundant and at the end nothing happened. Definitely, I am more of a scare movie type.

2.       Thought about relationships and how complicated they can be. And the benefits of not having a relationship.

3.       Need to do quarterly taxes for J&R and I did not since I took weekend off from work.

Anyhow, moving on to a different theme, last week I went to Math Conference in Marina del Rey. The experience was awesome! I meant it, remarkable! You learn so much for one weekend. The best part about it, is that I was able to convene, talk and interact with Joseph Gallian.  And some of us would wonder who that hell is Joseph Gallian. Well, he is the best of the best for abstract algebra! Yes! He wrote the text book that we are using at CSUS, and at least other 150 universities use his book. I mean, I had talking thousands of classes, and read another thousand books, but never meet who wrote any of those books… and meeting him was a huge deal! And interacting with him and getting advice was just an unbelievable luckily experience…. The best part about this trip is that CSUS Math department paid for everything, hotel, meals and travel expenses, yeap! What else could I ask for???

PCUMC was a pretty cool experience!
